James Alexander Obituary

Mr. James Earl Alexander, age 80, of Ekron, KY, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. Mr. Alexander was a member of the Black Farmers Association and Meade County Cattlemen’s Association. He was also a former member of the Masonic Lodge. Earl was a farmer and truck driver for AAFES for over 30 years.

Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his parents, James Ben and Bertha Cook Alexander; his wife, Edna Earl Alexander; his grandson, SGT James Sherrill; and his brother, Paul Alexander. He is survived by seven children, Ronald Lewis (Vera) Alexander, Huntsville, AL, Beatrice (William) Sherrill, Karen Ruth Alexander, William Henry (Erin) Alexander, all of Ekron, KY, Rebecca (Harry) McKnight, Columbia, SC, Donna Jean (Donald) Watson, Radcliff, KY, and David Earl (Julie) Alexander, Vine Grove, KY; a special granddaughter, Lauren “Baby Doll” Alexander; numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Keith and Daryl Alexander; a step brother, Arnold Stewart; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Ditto Stone, and Dorothy Taylor; a brother-in-law, Richard T. “Ike” Ditto; and a host of other extended family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. Lewis Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Sunday.
