Marylynne Davis Kitson

Mrs. Marylynne Davis Kitson, 66, of Brandenburg, KY passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2019, at the Norton Hosparus In-patient unit in Louisville, KY after battling breast cancer for 2 years.

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that she had a great love for animals and that Marylynne’s first act upon passing was to join all the many animals she loved at the “Rainbow Bridge”. Marylynne dearly loved to cook and sew but her number one passion was working with and showing her dogs at various dog shows, trials and coursing events around the United States. She was a member of the Pets in Need Society, Scottish Deerhound Club of America, Kentucky Greyhound Placement, The Southeastern Greyhound Club and Grand Squares. Marylynne preformed as “Haven” in Renaissance Fairs with her dogs at Eminence, KY and Loveland Castle, OH . Her performance was “Ancient Hounds” a demonstration and information on sighthounds of Medieval & Renaissance times.

She graduated from North Hardin High School in 1970, and later went on to receive her BA and Masters’ Degree in Social Work at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Marylynne retired in 2014 as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) after working 24 years in various postings helping soldiers and family members at Fort Knox, KY. She worked as a Case Manager/Treatment Provider and as Director of the girls’ residential facility, helping youth and their families at Youth Bridge, Fayetteville, AR for 7 years.

Marylynne was preceded in death by her parents, James Clinton and Katharine Newton Davis. She is survived by her loving husband, David Kitson and her sister Janie Davis, Louisville, KY.

She chose cremation and inurnment is planned for a later date at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY. A celebration of Marylynne’s life will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019, from 1:00 until 6:00 PM at Hager Funeral Home. The family requests expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, be contributions to the Pets in Need Society (PINS), P.O. Box 522, Brandenburg, KY 40108, to help pets of low income families.
