Mr. Donald Bruce Hardy, Sr., age 76, of Brandenburg, KY, entered eternal life on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. He was born in Louisville, KY, on September 19, 1941, to Lawrence and Clifton Hardy. He attended St. Rita Catholic School and Southern High School, graduating in 1959. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Brandenburg.
Don served in the Army National Guard; was employed with International Harvester; and completed his public working years at St. John Catholic Church. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years working on his farm, raising cattle, working in the garden and tinkering with his old cars.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daryl Brent Hardy; a son-in-law, Rob Coleman; a sister-in-law, Maren Hardy; and a brother-in-law, Curtis Hart. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Wanda Carol Hardy; five children, Dawn (David) Muma, Darrin (Angie) Hardy, both of Corydon, IN, Bruce Hardy and David Power, Prospect, KY, DeAnna Coleman, Louisville, KY and Dana (Kelly) Blackman, Jasper, IN; seven grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Devin, and Derek Hardy, John and Addison Coleman, Grant and McKenzie Blackman; two great granddaughters, Cambell and Claire Hardy; three brothers, Lawrence Hardy, David (Rosa) Hardy, Michael (Carol) Hardy; two sisters, Kathleen Hart and Barbara (Ben) Marks; many nieces and nephews; and very dear childhood friends, Stanley and Butch Werner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at St. John the Apostle Catholic, with Deacon Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 3:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, and from 9:30 - 10:40 AM on Saturday. Vigil Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Salvation Army.
