Edith Elizabeth Banner

Mrs. Edith Elizabeth Banner, age 85, of Brandenburg, KY, surrounded by loved ones, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. She went home to be with her Lord Jesus. Originally from Germany, she was born February 20, 1934 and immigrated to New York in 1952. Edith lived a full life and spent much of her time with family, friends and her beloved dog, Dixie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Elfride Schwan; her husband, Walter J. Banner; her sister, Maria M. (Donald) Wood; her brother, Kurt Lemke; and her nephew, Edward J. Wood. She is survived by three children, Michael James Renna and his wife Shannon, Louisville, KY, Debbie Renna-Hynes, and her husband, James, Rochester, NY, and Donna Renna-Donato and her husband Nick, Brandenburg, KY; and six grandchildren, Jayme Lynch, Adam (Leah Henry) Levy, Benjamin (Alicia) Levy, Curran (Taylor Metzgar) Hynes, Nicholas Donato and Khrystina Donato; four siblings, Erika Wood, Peter (Wanda) Schwan, Alfred (Ingrid) Schwan and Juergen Schwan; along with many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY with Pastor Herb Williams officiating, directed by Hager Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to New Hope Community Church, 34 Dee Street, Elizabethtown, KY 42701.
