George Greenwell, Jr.

Mr. George Greenwell, Jr., age 87, of Union Star, KY, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018, at the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital Nursing Facility. Mr. Greenwell was born June 27, 1931, the son of George E. and Anna Victoria Payne Greenwell. He was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Mr. Greenwell was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joseph Robert Greenwell; three brothers, Leon, Cecil and Alfred Louis Greenwell; and three sisters, Mary Catherine Hardesty, Thelma Perguson, and Geraldine Dowell. He is survived by four children, Barbara Sturgeon, Rhodelia, KY, Glenn Greenwell, Mount Washington, KY, Karen Sturgeon and Darlene Fleace, both of Garfield, KY; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Lee Greenwell, Brandenburg, KY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 8, 2018, at St. Theresa Avila Catholic Church, Rhodelia, KY, with Rev. George Illikkal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg from 2:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday, and at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of mass on Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Breckinridge Memorial extended care nursing facility.
