Mr. James A. Thomas, age 84, of Ekron, KY, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at his residence. He was born April 10, 1934, the son of Lon, Sr. and Myrtle Clark Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a veteran of the United States Army; and an accomplished retired horse owner/trainer in the thoroughbred industry. He was a member of the Horseman’s Benevolent and Protective Association.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; and nine siblings, Lon, Jr., Herbert, and Chester Thomas, Lucille Foor, Bernice Garrett, Dorothy Hagan, Virginia Singleton, Minnie Bell Sipes and Shirley Spain. He is survived by three children, Robin (Gene) Brown, Ekron, KY, Stephani (Glenn) Harris, Louisville, KY and Matthew W. (Tania) McCullough, Brandenburg, KY; four grandchildren, Nakisha (Jason) Allen, Ekron, KY, Kristen Martin , James Brown, both of Louisville, KY, Bridgette Kelly, Savannah, GA; two great grandchildren, Darian Goad and Diana Allen, both of Ekron, KY; a brother, Joseph Thomas, Ekron, KY; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3-8 PM on Wednesday and after 9:00 AM on Thursday.
