Louis Manning Obituary

Mr. Louis Alfred Manning, age 90, of Concordia, KY, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at his residence. Mr. Manning was a lifelong farmer and member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church; a board member of the Meade-Breck Center; and a member of the National Farmers Organization.

Louis was born October 31, 1928, the son of James Lee and Julia Wheeler Manning. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Forrest James Manning; four sisters, Louise Manning Brown, Christina Manning Weis, Thelma “Tillie” Manning Harvey and Elizabeth Manning; two brothers, James “J.B.” Manning and Marvin “Bud” Manning; four brothers-in-law, Rudolph “Doc” Clark, Leon Brown, Hank Weis and John Harvey; and his father and mother-in-law, Forrest “Frosty” and Irene Miller. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Miller Manning; three children, Millie Smith, and her husband, Jr., Patsy Vaughn, and her husband, Tony, and Anna Swanson, and her husband, Keith, all of Payneville, KY; 11 grandchildren, Jesse, Nicole (Kaelyn Burnett), Kelsie and Jamie Smith, Rebecca (Christian) Lyons, Drew, Lauren and Emily Vaughn, and Kristen, Kurtis and Kale Swanson; two great grandchildren, Charley Knight and Danni Lyons; a sister, Rose Clark; a sister-in-law, Shirley Flood Manning; and several nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, September 30, 2019, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, with Revs. George Illakkal and Robert “Bud” Ray officiating. Burial will follow in St. Theresa Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 PM on Sunday, and at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of mass on Monday. A vigil service will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday from the chapel of the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, or to the Meade-Breck Center.
