Mrs. Mabel Irene Taggart, age 90, of Amanda, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at her home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born August 27, 1927 in Guston, Kentucky to the late Ernest and Elsie Stith. Her three brothers, Baxter, Morris and Earl Stith, and two sisters, Mary Kendall and Jessie Edge preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of nearly 25 years, William Frederick Pugh; daughter, Elaine Hess in 1999, and grandson Jason Pugh in 2010. Mabel worked at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY, the Department of Defense in Washington DC, the county extension office of Meade County, KY, and as a cook in the Plymouth, Ohio school system. Most of all, Mabel loved being a wife, mother and care giver to her family.
Mrs. Taggart is survived by her loving husband and faithful care giver of nearly 47 years, Rev. Julian Taggart; sons, Gary (Denel) Pugh of Durham, NC, and Kenny Pugh (the Singing Mailman) of South Bloomfield, Ohio; 3 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be back home at Cap Anderson Cemetery, Brandenburg, KY on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 2:00 P.M, with Rev. Paul Frederick officiating. The family request memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1379 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH 43215.
