Marilyn S. Stephens Dettman

Mrs. Marilyn S. Stephens Dettman, age 70, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at her residence.  Mrs. Dettman was born on February 10, 1947 in Muncie, IN, to the late Goldie and Roy Stephens.  She formerly lived in South Bend, IN, Kansas City, MO, Largo and Sun City Center, FL before moving to Brandenburg.  She worked alongside her husband in the Wholesale Beauty Supply Business for over 20 years before retiring.  Mrs. Dettman was an active member of Ekron Baptist Church; the National Republican Party Association; and an inactive member of Kappa, Kappa, Kappa, Albany, IN Chapter.  She also served as a foster parent for many years.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Dettman was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, William F. “Bill” Dettman; her first born grandson, David Scot Ross; two half sisters, Pauline Farrell and Martha Nell Seals; and eight half brothers, William, Virgil and Bobby Stephens, and Claude, Lowell, Don, Jim and Larry Sorrell.  She is survived by two daughters, Heather S. (Chris) White, Morganton, NC, Rhonda L. Adams, Corydon, IN; a step son, William F. (Christina) Dettman, II, South Bend, IN; four granddaughters, Brittany Marie (Jon) Woodard, Monroe, NC, Natasha Nikole (Nick Molla) Stephens, Shelby, NC, Alexa Azhae (Ryan) Mundell, Brandenburg, KY, Jesse Lynn Adams, Guston, KY; three grandsons, William F. “B.J.” Dettman, III, South Bend, IN, SrA Matthew Allen Dettman, USAF, Louis Karl Dettman, South Bend, IN; five great grandchildren, Isabella Rose Heather Woodard, Monroe, NC, Elijah David Zumwalt, Indianapolis, IN, Max Christian Woodard, Monroe, NC, Makenzy Alexa Adams, Guston, KY and Aria Faith Mundell, Brandenburg, KY; and several beloved nieces and nephews in the Muncie, IN area.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Ekron Baptist Church, With Revs. Charles Blanc, Tom Bridge and Wes Pinkley officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
