Ms. Mary Rose Whelan, age 77, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, IN. Ms. Whelan was born May 16, 1941, the daughter of the late James Leon and Generose Bickett Foushee. She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church; and a member of the Garrett Homemakers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeffrey David Whelan; three brothers, George Leo “Jack” Foushee, Joseph Paul “Poodle” Foushee and Robert James “Bussy” Foushee; and a nephew, Paul Douglas Foushee. She is survived by her four loving children, Mary Lynne (Chris) Medley, Loretta Gail Whelan, Marla Kaye (Tommy) Wimpee, Terry Leonard Whelan, all of Brandenburg, KY; two sisters, Mary Norma “Sally” Kennedy, Louisville, KY, Elsie Marie Hagan, Florida; seven grandchildren, Jessica Lynne Oliver, Louisville, KY, Mindy Rose (Jeremy) Nevitt, Brandenburg, KY, Chad Jeffrey Whelan, Nashville, TN, Kristen Whelan, Caleb Whelan, both of Elizabethtown, KY, Nathan Wimpee and Matthew Wimpee, both of Brandenburg, KY; two great granddaughters, Aria Rose and Ava Marie; as well as, many nieces, nephews, and friends; and a special nephew, Ron (Debbie) Foushee, Guston, KY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, with Rev. Kevin Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 3:30- 9 PM on Friday, and from 9:00-10:45 AM on Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
