Mrs. Virgie Kirk Taylor, age 95, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at her residence. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Brandenburg United Methodist Church since 1956; served as director for the American Red Cross in Meade County from 1974 until 1995; was a member of the Town and Country Homemakers for 60 years, where she served as president on multiple occasions; was a former chairman of the Women’s flower exhibit for the Meade County Fair; had participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life for many years; was an avid gardener; loved needle work and quilting; and most importantly was a loving wife and very devoted mother.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Taylor; her parents, Alvey and Katherine Furest Kirk; three brothers, Alvey, Jr., Thomas Eugene and Robert Kirk; and two sisters, Mildred McCarthy and Ola Mae Ayers. She is survived by two children, Janice Taylor Hines, and her husband, Robert, Bowling Green, KY, and James Robert Taylor, Brandenburg, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM EDT, on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Owensboro Memorial Gardens, 900 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303, with Rev. Jeff Carter officiating. There will be no public visitation. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
