Alice Smith (Ward) Ritchie

     Mrs. Alice Smith Ritchie, age 90, of Brandenburg, KY passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Norton Hospital Downtown in Louisville, KY.  She was born January 22, 1933, in Paintsville, KY, the daughter of Virgil and Lula Van Hoose Ward.  Mrs. Ritchie was a former teller for Louisville Gas & Electric Co. and a member of Buck Grove Baptist Church.

     Mrs. Ritchie was preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd Smith and Joseph Ritchie; and a sister, Dorothy Limburg.  She is survived by eight stepchildren, Floyd L. (Marcie) Smith, James R. (Katie) Smith, Ray E. (Debbie) Smith, Leslie (Jimmy) Higginbottom, Rebecca (Roy) Cantrall, Cindy Welch, Barry Ritchie and Glenn Ritchie; a nephew, Marc Sturgill; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Chapel of the Hager Funeral Home with Rev. David Campbell officiating.  Burial will follow in Buck Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday.
