Barbara Ann Devereaux, age 88, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on January 23, 1938, the daughter of William Sanford and Ruby Marie (Churchman) Curry.
Barbara, a woman who truly never met a stranger. She was the definition of “the life of the party,” known for her infectious laughter, her quick wit, and her ability to make everyone in the room feel like the most important person there. She possessed a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or share a warm meal. To know her was to be loved by her, and her home was a sanctuary where everyone was welcomed with open arms and a generous spirit. She was a proud Kentucky Colonel and also served as past President of the Oakdale Neighborhood Association in Louisville where she became involved with the Jefferson County Police Department in helping solve neighborhood issues. Her greatest joy in life were her two sons and grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, joy and unconditional love that will continue to shine through everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Stephen Dingus; and two brothers, Billy and Lee Curry. She is survived by her son, Robert (Robin) Dingus, two granddaughters, Kimberly (James) Dennison, Ashley (Brandon) Blackburn; two step grandchildren, Jessica (Kelly) Roberts, D.W. (Kimberly) Brown; seven great grandchildren, Brayden, Emma, Sophie, and Logan Dennison, and Addisyn, Mason, and Grace Blackburn; three step great grandchildren, Landon and Lucas Roberts, and Josh Brown; her sister-in-law, Barbara Curry; her best friend, Johnny Burgraff; and her fur baby, Dolly.
