Bernard Lee Hardesty

Mr. Bernard Lee Hardesty, age 89, of Payneville, KY, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021.   He was born on July 1, 1932, the son of Robert M. and Hazel Margaret (Wathen) Hardesty.  Bernard lived life to the fullest and always valued his family as his number one priority.  He was retired from Civil Service and loved farming and gardening.

Mr. Hardesty was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Dorothy (Greer) Hardesty; and three brothers, Bobby, Nickie and Richard Hardesty.  He is survived by six children, Mary Jean (Jerry) Sipes, Beverly (Bobby) Mattingly, Judy (Jimmy) Padgett, Gary (Tonya) Hardesty, Larry (Sherry) Hardesty and Terry Hardesty; 17 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Cecil (Nellie) Hardesty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 29, 2021, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, with Rev. George Illakkal officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday at Hager Funeral Home, and from 9:00 AM until the time of mass on Monday at the church.  Vigil services will be held on Sunday at the funeral home.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
