Mrs. Carol Jean (Durbin) Hurst, age 74, of Ekron, KY, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN. Carol was born on March 15, 1951, the daughter of William Ruby and Frances Viola (Reynolds) Durbin. Carol loved sewing and was active in numerous sewing clubs. She also enjoyed quilting.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, MSG (Ret.) Harry Cecil Hurst, Jr.; her brother, Roger Michael Durbin; and her sister, Ruby Elaine Bell. She is survived by her daughter, Tabitha Dawn Lopez; two grandchildren, Devlin Scott Beck and Caden Ashton Lopez; three siblings, Joan (John) Bowman, Morris (Madonna) Durbin and Rob (Susie) Durbin; and a sister-in-law, Patti Whelan Durbin.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the chapel of Hager Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday and from 8:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
