Charles Edgar "Charlie" Dodson

Mr. Charles E. “Charlie” Dodson, age 84, of Orlando, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, surrounded by his children.  Mr. Dodson was born April 14, 1937, the son of Claude Edgar and Eva Mae (Payne) Dodson. Mr. Dodson was born and raised in the Frymire and Rhodelia areas of Kentucky. He proudly worked for Hall Contractors in Louisville, KY for many years driving semi’s and worked for the American Commercial Barge Line Company. In later years, Charlie was a self employed long haul trucker. Mr. Dodson loved God and his country. He proudly supported all branches of the military. He was a charitable man and loved to support several organizations such as: Paralyzed Veterans of America, Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans Charity and Christian Broadcasting Network. Most of all, Charlie loved his family.

Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Marlene (Wathen) Dodson; his second wife, Judith Ann (Rogan) Dodson; two sons, Kenneth Wayne and Charles Ernest (Ernie) Dodson; two sisters, Dorothy Dodson Huffman and Ruby Dodson Curry; and his brother, George Wesley Dodson. He is survived by five children, Charlene Dodson Stull, Kevin Lee Dodson, Jeffrey Allen Dodson, Payne Elizabeth (Peach) Dodson and Whitney Joseph (Kristen) Dodson; four step-children, Rogan, Nunny, Carter and Cleve; 17 grandchildren, Cindy, Christopher (Chris), Cherie, Matt, Chad, Brittany, Chase, Ava Grace, Michael Wesley, Caleb, Ella, Kenny, Jeffrey J., Ann Marie, Ellie Lee, Charlie and Carter; 14 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild, Trace Cameron Green; a sister, Brenda Faye (Dodson) Morgan; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Charlie’s Life will be held early afternoon on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Payneville Baptist Church.
