Mrs. Debra L. Hardesty, age 66, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022, at her residence. Debra was born January 12, 1956, the daughter of Hubert O. and Mary (Bartram) West. Debra was a member of both the Meade County and Kentucky Retired Teachers Association; Delta Kappa Gamma honorary society for female educators; both the Meade County and Kentucky National Homemakers Association; and St. John the Apostle Catholic Church where she served as both a Eucharistic Minister and Lector until she was no longer able.
Debra was a true matriarch who adored her family and friends. She had many interests throughout her life that included quilting, gardening, reading, and canning. She always loved large family gatherings where she could cook meals for her family and spend time with her grandchildren who were truly her pride and joy. Debra also loved to spoil her many pets.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Gene; her father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Joetta Hardesty; her brother-in-law, Vince Yustas and her nephew, Daniel Bridges. She is survived by her two children, Elizabeth Heightchew and her husband, Steven, and Nicholas Hardesty and his wife, Bethany; five grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob Heightchew, and Alea, Maylee and Whitley Hardesty; her sisters, Mary (Richard) Wilson, Jean Ann (Allen) Feldman, and Karin (Bill) Work; her brother and sisters-in-law, Tommy (Mary Jo) Hardesty, Mary Nell Yustas, Patrick (Luanne) Hardesty, Marvin (Mary Ann) Hardesty, Dorothy (Jon) Bridges and David (Tammy) Hardesty; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 28, 2022, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, with Rev. Toan Do officiating. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, and at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of mass on Friday. Vigil Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
