Mr. Donald H. Frenzl, age 85, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. Don was born August 2, 1937, the son of Joseph and Julienne (Van Dermeiren) Frenzl. Don proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp.
Don was an Eagle Scout of the Order of the Arrow. He served as assistant scoutmaster of troop 875 in Chicago and was also Cubmaster of Pack 150 in Brandenburg. He had a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He worked for Proctor & Gamble, Charmin and retired from Olin Corporation after 21 ½ years of service. Don was a 32 degree Mason of the Knight Templer and was also a life member of Wayfarers Lodge #1001 F.&A.M. in Evanston, IL. He was an endowment member of the NRA and was an NRA training counselor for 20 years, as well as, an NRA basic rifle instructor for 35+ years; a junior club leader and coach to several shooting clubs, including DePere Sportsmen in Wisconsin for 5 years, and Meade County Shooting Club for 20+ years. Don was a former member of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Rifle Association, Wisconsin R&P Association, and the Kentucky R&P Association. Don was a benefactor member of the KSR & PA and also served as President of this organization for 6 years. He was also a team captain and shooting member of the KY State H.P. Team.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 42 years, Shirley Frenzl. He is survived by two sons, Neil (Andrea) Frenzl and Steve (Karin Comer) Frenzl; and his granddaughter, Madeline Ann Frenzl.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Bridge officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Garnettsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, and from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Sunday.
