Elizabeth Mae (Foushee) Banks

     Mrs. Elizabeth Mae (Foushee) Banks, age 97, of Stith Valley, KY, left this world peacefully on the 26th of January 2021, surrounded by her family.  She was born to the late Bernice L. and Margaret Louise Foushee on November 30, 1923 in Guston, KY.

     Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Samuel Earl Banks.  They lived in Stith Valley and had seven children, Mildred Paige, Radcliff, KY, Betty Rogers and Erroll Nettles, Stith Valley, KY, Mable Ann Coleman, Georgia, Fannie Garrett, and her husband, John, Clarksville, TN, Raymond Banks and his wife, Mable, Stith Valley, KY, William Banks and his wife, Patricia, Louisville, KY, and Randy Banks, Stith Valley, KY; 22 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Also left to cherish here memory is her sister, Wanda Banks, of Stith Valley, who is 23 years her junior.

     Elizabeth was very well known in her community.  She was a devoted wife, caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She was very devoted to her children and was a wonderful cook.  Her specialty was custard pies and candy yams (Sweet potatoes).   Her hobbies were making hooked rugs from rags.  Her rugs were cherished by all.  Elizabeth was called “Mom” by all who loved her.

     Funeral services will be privately held for Elizabeth’s immediate family only, due to COVID-19 health mandates.  The service will be streamed online to the Hager Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 30, 2021.  A walk-through public visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Saturday.  Burial will follow in Zion Grove Cemetery.  The Banks family would like to thank everyone who has shared in a part of our Mom’s life.  May God continue to bless you all.
