Mrs. Betty S. Hardesty, age 84, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at her residence. Mrs. Hardesty was born January 31, 1938, the daughter of Wallace and Hattie (Hardesty) Frakes. Betty was a parishioner at Holy Guardian Angel Catholic Church where she was always willing to donate her time volunteering for the fish fries, or any other church mission. She started her work life at Standard Oil, and then continued as a longtime bookkeeper for Fred Wheatley at Wheatley Chevrolet and then Fred’s son Pat, at Wheatley Body and Trim. Betty was also an avid quilter and loved being outdoors working in her garden or mowing her lawn.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lillian Adkisson; and her brother, Bill Frakes. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James H. “Sonny” Hardesty; two daughters, Jackie Hardesty Flaherty and her husband, Mike, and Carrie Hardesty Filburn and her husband, Eric; four grandchildren, Justin (Kristen) Flaherty, Jenna (Dale) Pack, Bailey Flaherty and Grace Filburn; five great grandchildren, Hayden Pack, Brettley Pack, Sawyer Pack, Jaxon Baskerville and Aden Hall; her sister, Nellie (Cecil) Hardesty; and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, with Father Kirby Rust officiating. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, and at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of mass on Thursday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Holy Guardian Angel Catholic Church.
