Ms. Evelyn Allen Ritchie, age 89, formerly of Meade County, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Ms. Ritchie was born February 20, 1935, the daughter of Marvin Leslie and Agnes (Board) Allen.

Ms. Ritchie was an immensely talented lady when it came to music.  She loved to write, sing, and play a variety of gospel songs.  She enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors caring for her flowers.  She loved her family deeply and treasured being able to make Afghans for her grandchildren.

Ms. Ritchie was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Agnes; her daughter-in-law, JoAnn Ritchie; and five siblings, Marvin Leslie, John William, and Roy Albert Allen, Virginia Futrell, and Alberta Logsdon.  She is survived by five children, Leslie Ann (James) Higginbotham, Rebecca (Roy) Cantrall, Cynthia (Phillip) Welch, Barry Elton Ritchie and Joseph Glenn Ritchie; 12 grandchildren, Stephen, Kriscinda, Alex, Carrie, Katherine, Chad, Brendan, Sanya, Jenny, Jesse, Jonathan, and Lydia; 21 great grandchildren; her sister, Juanita Hart; and her sister-in-law, Terry Allen.

In honoring Ms. Ritchie’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation with no public service to be held. Hager Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
