Floyd Golladay Obituary

Mr. Floyd Arnold Golladay of Brandenburg, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord, Monday evening, March 9, 2020. He was born July 3, 1945 in Grayson County, the son of Ernest and Elsie Golladay. Floyd was a hard-working and dedicated owner of Big O Tire stores, where he retired after serving the public for some 30 years. Floyd met his high school sweetheart, Judy, at the age of 14, married here two years later, and they spent the next 57 years raising children, grandchildren and building a beautiful life together. Floyd and Judy enjoyed travelling, but the greatest joy of their retirement years was spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Floyd loved his church where he served as Sunday school teacher for a number of years, and he could always be found greeting everyone with a handshake and warm conversation.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Thomas Golladay, Edward Golladay, Curtis Golladay and Francis Meredith; and his beloved grandson, Josh Marr. He is survived by his wife, Judy Golladay; son, Tony Golladay and his wife, Arlene aka Floyd’s favorite daughter-in-law; daughters, Joy Marr, Tina Stallings and her husband, Chris, Angie Woodburn and her husband, Mike, Becca Edens and her husband, Bud; as well as 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Roger Golladay and Ricky Golladay and his wife, Pam.

Whether you call him dad, papaw, brother, uncle, or friend, his devotion to those he loved was unfaltering. Floyd’s faith was a foundation for his life. He loved God and knew his Heavenly Father loved him. The perfect ending just as God promised.

Visitation will be held at his home church, Meade County General Baptist Church, on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 2:00 PM until the service begins at 6:00 PM. Pastors Don Hilton, Alan Thomas and Tony Golladay will be officiating. Family and friends will meet at Hager Funeral Home on Monday at 12 Noon for a brief gathering before an intimate burial at Cap Anderson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Meade County General Baptist Church Building Fund.
