Mr. Howard Berry Batts, age 99, of Battletown, KY passed away Friday, September 27, 2019, at Harrison County Hospital, Corydon, IN. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, having received a Purple Heart. Mr. Batts was a member of the VFW, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. Batts was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; his parents, Gabriel M. and Bernice Berry Batts; and a brother, Bryant Batts. He is survived by a son, Daniel H. Batts; a daughter, Sharon E. Wetzel; three grandchildren, Sherry L. Corson and Ricky L. and Gregory A. Grant; four great-grandchildren, Cody A. and Autumn R. Grant, Sara L. Brownlee and Charlie A. Corson V; and two great-great-grandchildren, Isabella L. Brownlee and Adalyn Rose Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday from the Chapel of the Hager Funeral Home with Rev. Jensen Riddle officiating. Burial will follow in Leach Cemetery, Horse Branch, KY. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Monday and after 9:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be donations to Cold Spring Baptist Church or the Donor’s favorite charity.
