Mr. James Alvin Barr, age 92, of Rhodelia, Ky passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at his residence. He was born September 6, 1928, the son of Noah Frederick and Mary Celestine (Kullman) Barr. Mr. Barr was a parts manager for Smith Auto Supply for several years, and a farmer for his entire life. He enjoyed music, dancing and playing the fiddle, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren.
Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; a son-in-law, Ed Turner; two grandchildren, Baby Barr and Christopher Turner; and three siblings, Zilpha Flaherty, Lee Barr and Forrest Barr. He is survived by two children, Diana Barr Turner and Keith Barr and his wife, Mary; four grandchildren, Aaron Barr and his wife, Taylor, Andrew Barr, Nathan Barr Turner and his wife, Gabby, and Nadia Turner; five great grandchildren, Waylon Barr, Brynlee Turner and Brayden, Brooklyn and Baylee Thomas; and one sister, Elaine Miller and her husband, Ralph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 6, 2021, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, with Rev. George Illikkal and Rev. Robert Ray officiating. Burial will follow in St. Theresa Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home on Sunday, September 5, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of mass on Monday. The family requests that all who attend the visitation or funeral service wear masks due to COVID-19. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Mass of the Air.
