Jimmy Webster Sanders

Mr. Jimmy Webster Sanders, age 78, of Guston, KY, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY.   Jimmy was very active in his community, serving as the former Dog Warden for the Meade County Animal Shelter, as well as, serving as the Park Director for Meade County Public Parks for many years.  Jimmy was instrumental in all of the renovations to the parks throughout the years and is one of the reasons that Meade Olin, as well as the other parks throughout the community, are recognized as the finest around.  Jimmy’s passions included brace beagling, baseball and gardening.  He was a member of the Rolling Fork Beagle Club since the age of 15, and most recently served as President.  He served as a judge for 53 beagle clubs serving with 67 different judges.  He judged in 14 different states, judging 180 field trials and 10 separate federation field trials.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Ova Webster Sanders and Catherine Stevenson Bell; his step-father, Charlie Bell; his son, Jimmy Webster Sanders, Jr.; his grandson, Chase Webster Sanders; his great granddaughter, Adison Smith; and his brother, Johnny Sanders.  He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Darlene Sanders; two sons, Tony Sanders and his wife, Mirabel, and Lonnie Sanders and his wife, Michele; three granddaughters, Brooke Vessels, Annie Sanders and Amber Kate Sanders; two great grandchildren, Kylee Sanders and Charlie Vessels; two sisters, Doris Wells and her husband, Renzee, Marianne French and her husband, Richard; two brothers, Mike Bell and Joey Sanders; and his special cousin, who was more like a brother, Welton Sanders.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Gary Benham officiating.  Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Meade County Animal Shelter, 516 Hillcrest Drive, Brandenburg, KY  40108.
