JoAnn Smith

JoAnn Smith, 75 from Guston, Kentucky died Friday October 11th 2019 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital from a very short battle with Pancreatic Cancer. JoAnn was born April 2nd, 1944 to Clara and John Calisi of Lodiburg Kentucky. JoAnn was one of seven children, which included, Adeline Chapman, Mickey Calisi, Mary Roberts, Rosalie Cox, Sam Calisi and Janet Smith.

Joann graduated from Irvington High School and Married Ronnie Smith on November 17th, 1962 and they were together 46 years until Ronnie’s passing in 2008. Together they had 4 children who will deeply miss her. Lori Smith-Kosch (Doug), Melissa Drury (David) Mark Smith (Sherry) and Marty Smith.

5 Grandchildren that she was incredibly proud of, Spencer and Sierra Kosch, Skylar and Sophia Drury and Chloe Renee Smith.

Joann Spent most of her time being a caregiver, raising not only her own children but being an influence in the lives of so many other children. Joann cared for many elderly family members and friends and her door was always open for any extended period of time, to anyone who needed it. JoAnn was an amazing listener and spent many hours writing letters of encouragement and hope.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Calisi, her husband, Ronnie Smith and her Brother Mickey Calisi and her sister Mary Roberts.

A Celebration of Joann’s life and what she meant to so many people will be held Sat Oct 19th, 2019. Visitation starting at 10:00 am ET and a service at 1:00 pm ET.

Joann’s family is grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff that cared for her during this difficult time. We are blessed beyond measure for the countless cards, calls and visits and the family that spent hours and days with us during her illness.
