Mr. Kenneth B. “Kenny” Butler, age 57, Ekron, KY, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at his residence. Kenny was born February 6, 1962, the son of Morris and Emogene Robinson Butler, who both preceded him in death. He was a custodian at Flaherty Primary School, where he took pride in his work inside and outside of the building. He served as a mentor for many of the children over the years. Kenny served as Fire Chief and a former member of the Ekron Fire Department for over twenty years before retiring. He also served as a member of the Flaherty Fire Department for several years. Kenny loved motorcycle rides and helping his son-in-law restore and show garden tractors for fairs. Kenny was also a parishioner of Holy Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Irvington, KY.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Donna LaTondress Butler; two children, Steve Butler, and his wife, Carrie, Noblesville, IN, Stephanie Curl, and her husband, Mike, Brandenburg, KY; three grandchildren, Hubert, Ben and Evelyn Curl; two great grandchildren, Mikey Coward and Amelia; three brothers, Donnie Butler, and his wife, Rhonda, Frankie Butler, and his wife, Dee, and Tim Butler; a sister, Kim Rector; his special friends, Danny and Carol Williams; and over 400 students at Flaherty Primary School in Flaherty that he called his kids.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Holy Garden Angel Catholic Church, with Rev. Dan Kreutzer officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Merino Cemetery. Friends may call at Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg, from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, and from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Flaherty Primary School.
