Marlene Madrid Obituary

Mrs. Marlene Madrid, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Baptist Health Hardin, at the age of 81, after a long battle with cancer.  She was born in 1941 in Frymire, Kentucky, the daughter of Bertrand and Reba Nevitt.

Mrs. Madrid was preceded in death by her parents; her infant child, Joseph; and seven siblings. Marlene was raised on a farm with 11 siblings. She graduated from Meade County High School in 1959. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Felipe Madrid.

Marlene is survived by her husband of 62 years, Felipe Madrid; four children, Vanessa (Tim) Caudill, Gloria (Michael) Walters, Tina (David) Couch, and Phil (Hope) Madrid; 13 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Her husband, children and grandchildren were the pride of her life. As a military wife, she lived and traveled to Europe and all over the United States for 20 years. Marlene loved traveling to visit her daughters in Florida, as well as Felipe’s family in Texas.

She loved country music, cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats and especially enjoyed the Christmas holiday. Above all, Marlene was a role model for her entire family.

The legacy of her kind spirit, unconditional love, passion for life and love of reading and gardening will live on through her family.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
