Martha Jane "Janie" (Dowell) McAfee

Mrs. Martha Jane “Janie” McAfee, age 66, of Guston, KY, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021, at her daughter’s residence in Hardinsburg, KY.  Janie was a member of Community Praise and Worship Church.  She loved to sew and work puzzles.  The joy of her life was her grandbabies and spending time with all of her family.

Janie was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Frances Dowell; and her granddaughter, Sarah Paige Smith.  She is survived by her daughters, Kim Smith and her husband, Jeff, Hardinsburg, KY, Tisha Thomas and her husband, James, Tennessee; her father, Richard “Junior” Dowell, Guston, KY; three grandchildren, Brooke Adkins and her husband, Jeffery, Morgan Smith, both of Hardinsburg, KY, Tyler Thomas, Tennessee; two great grandchildren, Braeyden Bentel and Carson Adkins, both of Hardinsburg, KY, three sisters, Dorothy Ray and her husband, Elroy, Flaherty, KY, Mary Ledford, Guston, KY, Betty Prather and her husband, Harry, Garrett, KY; her brother, Richie Dowell and his wife, Sandy, Garrett, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Brother Terry Carby officiating.  The service will also be streamed online to the Hager Funeral Home Facebook Page.  Burial will follow in Buck Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM EST on Friday, and from 8:00 AM EST until the time of service on Saturday.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society; or to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
