Mary Catherine (Bennett) Barnes

Mrs. Mary Catherine Barnes, age 92, of Battletown, KY, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at her residence.  Mrs. Barnes was born August 30, 1931, the daughter of Hobert C. and Lula Marie (Pipes) Bennett.  She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She had many hobbies and interests, but especially loved to fish, play bingo, and work jigsaw puzzles.

Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, William; two daughters, Peggy Collins and Julie Barnes; two granddaughters, Alicia Boggs and Amy Phillips; two great grandchildren, Paislie Embry and Cody Howard; two brothers, Bud and Wayne Bennett; and her sister, Betty Curl.  She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Barnes, Sherry Hildie, and Bonnie Embry and her husband, Doug; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Margie Knight and Ruby Bell.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, October 2, 2023, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. Terry Mullins officiating.  Burial will follow in Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, KY.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Monday.  O.E.S. funeral rites will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday at the chapel of the funeral home.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Wolf Creek Baptist Church.
