Brother Phillip Morris Phillips, age 82, of Ekron, KY, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY. Morris was born April 6, 1941, in Shelby County, KY, the son of Ruby Oakley and Edna Mae (Haggard) Phillips.
Morris was a lifetime member of the Highway 60 Church of Christ and served as a minister of the Gospel for over 50 years. He owned and operated Phillips Barber Shop in Louisville, as well as Phillips Clocks and Crafts with his wife, Anna, for a number of years. Morris was also a longtime host of the local radio show, Edgewise on WMMG.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara Atherton and Anita Moore; and his brother, Jackie Phillips. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Anna; two daughters, Nita Allen and her husband, Kent, and Abby Hancock and her husband, Jeff; his son, Tony Phillips and his wife, Brenda; three grandchildren, Hannah Sadler and her husband, Drew, Savannah Allen and Austin Phillips; and his great grandson, Gavin Sadler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. Monie Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Cap Anderson Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday.
