Mr. Ronald Joe Wheat, age 74, of St. Anthony, IN, passed away on Monday, January 4,2021, at his residence. Ron was very proud to serve his country in Vietnam, while a soldier in the United States Army. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Ferdinand, IN. He loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed boating and fishing.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Elza Lee and Martha (Hawkins) Wheat; four brothers, Elza, Montfort, Lawrence and Keith Wheat; and two sisters, Ruby Roettger and Ruth Hensley. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Wheat; three sons, Vernon Dowell, Brandenburg, KY, Ronald Wheat, Jr., Florida, and Jason Wheat and his wife, Laura, Evansville, IN; his sister, Sarah Smith, Jasper, IN; his brother in law, Estel Hensley, Doolittle Mills, IN; a special nephew, who has been like a brother, Jim Roettger, Stendal, IN; five grandchildren, Ronald Wheat III, Kristin Wheat, Gideon, Harley and Noah; and four great grandchildren, Ronald Wheat IV, Greyson, Tanner and Sadie; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg, KY, with Rev. Garry Hicks officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at 1:30 PM, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday.
