Samuel Robert Sloan

     Mr. Samuel Robert Sloan, was born March 27, 1927 in Shepherdsville, Kentucky and entered his heavenly home on September 13, 2023 at the Robley Rex Veterans Administration Medical Center in Louisville, KY.

     Mr. Sloan proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict.  He was retired from General Electric.  Mr. Sloan accepted the Lord and was an active member of St. Stephen Baptist Church until his health declined several years ago.

     Mr. Sloan was preceded in death by his parents, James and Maggie Sloan; his loving wife, Hazel Sloan; his sister, Frances Sloan; and four brothers, Earl, James, William and George Sloan.  He is survived by three children, Peggy Kemp, Linda Green, and William Gregory Fowler; four grandchildren, Aria Fowler, Kenneth, Alfred, and Paul Kemp; three great grandchildren, Aubrey Tyson, Jeryl Tyson III, and Alijah Kemp; and his special friend and caregiver, Dolores Geisler.

     Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY, with Minister Tammy Payne officiating.  Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 11:45 AM until 1:45 PM on Thursday.

     “Duty, Honor and Sacrifice” the true testament of a soldier….the only Commitment higher is obedience to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
