Mr. Travis Lee Sipes, age 54 of Shepherdsville, KY, formerly of Meade County, and Crawfordville, GA, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at his residence.
Travis loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and searching for arrowheads. His most loved hobby was farming and tending to his cows. Most importantly however, he loved his family. He would always follow his nephews and niece watching them play ball.
Travis was preceded in death by his father, Bernie “Buck” Sipes; his grandparents, Lynn and Mildred Sipes, Frank and Lucille Ruff, Henry and Hilda French, and John and Evelyn Wafford; his uncles, Freddie Sipes, William E. Hardin and Henry French, Jr.; and his aunt Mary Lee Raisor. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Rosemary and Stanley Wafford; his brother, Jeff Wafford and his wife, Carrie; his sister, Kathleen Duke and her husband, Jonathan; his niece, Gracie; his two nephews, Braeden and M.J.; his aunts and uncles, Pat and John Wafford, Joe and Betty Wafford, Ron and Romanie Ritchie, Michael and Pauline French and Billy and Gloria Cannon; and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, December 29, 2023, from the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Father George Illakkal officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until the time of service on Friday. A private family burial will be held at St. Theresa Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the volunteers and staff of the Brown Cancer Center at U of L Health, as well as, Hosparus of Louisville, for the outstanding and compassionate care shown for Travis for the last few months and years. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Brown Cancer Center; or to Hosparus of Louisville.
